About Me

Hi, I’m Anna, the writer behind In Search of Everywhere! I began this blog in July 2023 as a place to share my travels in the UK and beyond.

I’ve always loved exploring new places, first getting a taste of overseas travel on university trips to Sardinia, China and New Zealand in 2019. I was keen to keep seeing other places in the world, but a global pandemic got in the way…

In 2022 I began to plan a worldwide trip. When she found out, my sister, Lou, said some words she has hopefully not since regretted: “Can I come with?”

I quit my job back in January 2023 and she got a sabbatical. We spent the year travelling, visiting 15 countries across 4 continents.

Since late 2023, I’ve been back in the UK. I’ve been converting all of what I learned about backpacking into guides for this website. I love the writing process and figure it’s all good practice for when I eventually write a best-selling novel! (A girl can dream…)

Thanks for taking a look!

Some travel facts about me

Favourite country I’ve visited

It has to be Bolivia! It’s deeply traditional and different to anywhere else in South America: I loved it.

Lowest travel moment

Losing Lou on the way to the airport in Buenos Aires and almost missing our flight. (We made it – just!)

Most unusual food tried abroad

Jellyfish in Guangzhou, 2019. It was so tough but chewy. I won’t be having it again!

The one place I’ll dream about returning to

Patagonia. It’s so wild and magical, and I only scratched the surface. One day I’ll be back!

Meet Lou

My sister, Lou, is my travel companion and all-round best friend. You’ll see her name pop up on almost every article in this blog as I rarely leave the house without her!

Lou is a gym guru and exactly who you need when on a boat trip or at the beach, as a trained lifeguard. A fashionista at heart, Lou’s who I go to when I need a nice outfit; even when travelling, she manages to look adorable and stylish!

When travelling, Lou adopts a jellyfish-style mentality. She is a doer, not a planner, and tends to leave the flight and hotel bookings to me. As the foodie of the trip, though, she is ace at finding restaurants and bars on Google Maps, and is who I turn to when I can’t decide what to eat. She’s used to keeping me calm when flight prices go up or dorms sell out too.

Outside of travels, you’ll find Lou procrastinating going to the gym (except when she’s going on shift of course), raiding our house for leftover Christmas chocolates, or finding out the most interesting but useless tips on Tiktok.

My trips in 2023 wouldn’t have been the same without her!
