About

Welcome to In Search of Everywhere!

In Search of Everywhere began in July 2023 as a place to share my travels, both in the UK and beyond. This travel blog is aimed at two groups of people: budding backpackers who are heading out into the unknown; and explorers getting out and about in the UK. Of course in many cases, these groups are one and the same.

What will you find on the blog?

My favourite things to write are in depth destination guides, so you can get a feel of a new town or city before you’ve got there. They include top finds and tips from being on the ground and trying them out for myself, so you can avoid my misses and focus on the best stuff. You’ll find guides on places across South America, South-East Asia, Europe and the UK.

Elsewhere, you’ll find itineraries, tips and listicles. From swimming with bioluminescent plankton in Cambodia to walking around reservoirs in Staffordshire, I love sharing the stories which have shaped my travels – and hopefully providing inspiration for your own!

How did In Search of Everywhere come about?

In 2023, I headed on a year-long backpacking trip, visiting 15 countries across 4 continents. I loved backpacking, but there were plenty of moments where I had no idea what I was doing. In those situations, I did what every independent traveller does: I turned to Google for help. However, there’s nothing more despondent than there being nothing to help you online.

That’s how In Search of Everywhere was born. It’s a place for all the answers to the questions I had whilst travelling. I like including my top tips and tricks so you don’t make any of the mistakes that I did.

About the writer

Hi, I’m Anna, the voice behind In Search of Everywhere.

I’ve always loved exploring new places, first getting a taste of overseas travel on university trips to Sardinia, China and New Zealand in 2019.

Unlike many travel bloggers out there, I am not on the road 24/7. I loved backpacking in 2023 but I can’t deny it is exhausting being away from home for months on end. Nowadays I’m a weekend tripper. And that’s good for the blog – I know about how to end your backpacking trip as well as beginning one.

My bucket list is ever growing and I’m looking forward to ticking off more cities and countries as the years go by!

Some travel facts about me

It has to be Bolivia! It’s deeply traditional and different to anywhere else in South America: I loved it.

Losing Lou on the way to the airport in Buenos Aires and almost missing our flight. (We made it – just!)

Jellyfish in Guangzhou, 2019. It was so tough but chewy. I won’t be having it again!

Patagonia. It’s so wild and magical, and I only scratched the surface. One day I’ll be back!

Meet Lou

My sister, Lou, is my travel companion and all-round best friend. You’ll see her name pop up on almost every article in this blog as I rarely leave the house without her!

Lou is a gym guru and exactly who you need when on a boat trip or at the beach, as a trained lifeguard. A fashionista at heart, Lou’s who I go to when I need a nice outfit; even when travelling, she manages to look adorable and stylish!

When travelling, Lou adopts a jellyfish-style mentality. She is a doer, not a planner, and tends to leave the flight and hotel bookings to me. As the foodie of the trip, though, she is ace at finding restaurants and bars on Google Maps, and is who I turn to when I can’t decide what to eat. She’s used to keeping me calm when flight prices go up or dorms sell out too.

Outside of travels, you’ll find Lou procrastinating going to the gym (except when she’s going on shift of course), raiding our house for leftover Christmas chocolates, or finding out the most interesting but useless tips on Tiktok.

My trips in 2023 wouldn’t have been the same without her!

Where to next?

There are plenty of articles on In Search of Everywhere. The easiest way to search through them is by heading to the Start Here or Destination pages. Here, you’ll find lists of the cities and countries covered by blog posts, as well as some of my favourite posts.

If you want to know more about this blog, check out my periodic travel updates (you can find the last one here). You can find In Search of Everywhere on Instagram and Pinterest – I’m an irregular poster but I’m trying! And feel free to contact me by email.

Thanks for taking a look!
